Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Holmen Vikings (Holmen, WI) and the host Sparta Spartans (Sparta, WI), saw Holmen's basketball squad hold off Sparta by a tally of 62-55.

With the victory, Holmen improves its record to 9-6 on the campaign. The Vikings host Onalaska (Onalaska, WI) to confront the Hilltoppers in a Mississippi Valley challenge on Tuesday, January 24. The Hilltoppers come into the challenge with a record of 7-8. Onalaska lost 60-33 in their recent non-league challenge against Eau Claire Memorial (Eau Claire, WI)

Next up, the Spartans confront the La Crosse Logan Rangers (La Crosse, WI) in a Mississippi Valley challenge, on Tuesday, January 24. Sparta will attempt to improve on its 3-14 season record. The Rangers come into the challenge with a 5-8 record after their 57-47 non-league loss to Platteville (Platteville, WI).
