Metlakatla Chiefs (Metlakatla, AK) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the visiting Wrangell Wolves (Wrangell, AK), 54-34 in a league bout.

With the win, Metlakatla upgrades its record to 8-2 on the season. The Chiefs travel to Haines (Haines, AK) to clash with the Glacier Bears in a 2A Southeast bout on Friday, January 26. The Glacier Bears go into the bout with a record of 4-4. Haines lost 36-30 in their recent league bout against Craig (Craig, AK)

Next up, the Wolves clash with the Petersburg Vikings (Petersburg, AK) in a 2A Southeast bout, on Friday, January 26. Wrangell will attempt to upgrade on its 2-2 season record. The Vikings go into the bout with a 0-7 record after their 23-16 league loss to Haines (Haines, AK).
