January 22, 2024: Covington, LA 70433 Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Covington Lions (Covington, LA) and the visiting St. Helena College and Career Academy Hawks (Greensburg, LA), saw Covington's basketball squad overcome St. Helena College and Career Academy by a tally of 49-31.
With the victory, Covington improves its record to 5-11 on the campaign. The Lions host Fontainebleau (Mandeville, LA) to play the Bulldogs in a 5A District 6 challenge on Tuesday, January 23. The Bulldogs come into the challenge with a record of 20-6. Fontainebleau won 60-47 in their recent league challenge against Hammond (Hammond, LA)
Next up, the Hawks play the French Settlement Lions (French Settlement, LA) in a 2A District 7 challenge, on Tuesday, January 23. St. Helena College and Career Academy will attempt to improve on its 5-4 season record. The Lions come into the challenge with a 14-7 record after their 59-14 league win over Independence (Independence, LA).
