Altavista Colonels (Altavista, VA) backers were pleased Monday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Nelson County Governors (Lovingston, VA), 37-34 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Altavista upgrades its record to 2-5 on the campaign. The Colonels travel to William Campbell (Naruna, VA) to play the Generals in a non-league bout on Tuesday, January 23. The Generals come into the bout with a record of 1-4. William Campbell lost 51-16 in their recent non-league battle against Gretna (Gretna, VA)

The Governors (7-5) will now prepare for their battle against Chatham (Chatham, VA). The Cavaliers come into the non-league battle with a 6-8 record. In their last battle, Chatham was nudged by Appomattox County (Appomattox, VA), 33-26, in a non-league battle.
