Virginia High School Basketball - Amherst County thwarts Altavista
January 23, 2025: Altavista, VA 24517 The crowd at Thursday's non-league challenge between the Amherst County Lancers (Amherst, VA) and the host Altavista Colonels (Altavista, VA), observed Amherst County's basketball team knock off Altavista by a score of 51-42.
The Lancers (6-5) will now prepare for their challenge against Liberty (Bedford, VA). The Minutemen come into the non-league challenge with a 4-4 record. In their last challenge, Liberty dropped by Staunton River (Moneta, VA), 52-45, in a non-league challenge.
In their next game, the Colonels encounter the Chatham Cavaliers (Chatham, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, January 24. Altavista will attempt to improve on its 5-4 season record. The Cavaliers come into the challenge with a 4-8 record after their 31-27 non-league loss to Magna Vista (Ridgeway, VA).
