Covington Chargers (Covington, TN) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Brighton Cardinals (Brighton, TN), 51-48 in a league bout.

With the victory, Covington upgrades its record to 6-13 on the campaign. The Chargers host Bolivar Central (Bolivar, TN) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Friday, January 27. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 8-8.

Next up, the Cardinals play the Haywood Tomcats (Brownsville, TN) in a 3A District 14 bout, on Friday, January 27. Brighton will attempt to upgrade on its 4-11 season record.
