The Verndale Pirates basketball team scored 37 points and limited the visiting Laporte Wildcats to 35 in the Pirates league triumph on Friday.

The Pirates now have a 2-14 record. They play next when they host Sebeka for a A Section 5 game on Tuesday, January 28. Verndale will confront a Trojans team coming off a 56-28 non-league loss to Wadena-Deer Creek (Wadena, MN). The Trojans record now stands at 5-12.

With the loss, Laporte falls to 2-17 on the campaign. The Wildcats travel to Hill City/Northland (Hill City, MN) to confront the in a non-league game on Monday, January 27.
