The Apache Junction Prospectors (Apache Junction, AZ) basketball nipped the host Vista Grande Spartans (Casa Grande, AZ), 51-49 in Friday's league test.

The Prospectors (7-17) will now prepare for their test against Cortez (Phoenix, AZ). The Colts go into the 4A Black Canyon test with a 12-11 record. In their last test, Cortez was tipped by Dysart (El Mirage, AZ), 96-68, in a league test.

The Spartans now own a 4-19 record. They play next when they host Tempe for a 4A Black Canyon test on Monday, January 29. Vista Grande will encounter a Buffaloes squad coming off a 54-52 league win over Coronado (Scottsdale, AZ). The Buffaloes record now stands at 10-16.
