The Newton Tigers basketball team scored 61 points and held the visiting Lake Hornets to 52 in the Tigers league triumph on Friday.

The Tigers now sport a 10-9 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Nanih Waiya for a 2A Region 5 contest on Wednesday, February 1.

The Hornets (7-10) will now prepare for their contest against Philadelphia (Philadelphia, MS). The Tornadoes enter the 2A Region 5 contest with a 4-11 record.
