January 27, 2023: Melissa, TX 75454 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Sherman Bearcats (Sherman, TX) and the host Melissa Cardinals (Melissa, TX), saw Sherman's basketball squad hold off Melissa by a count of 71-70.
With the victory, Sherman upgrades its record to 10-13 on the campaign. The Bearcats host Greenville (Greenville, TX) to play the Lions in a 5A Region II District 13 challenge on Tuesday, January 31. The Lions come into the challenge with a record of 11-15. Greenville lost 67-39 in their recent league challenge against Melissa (Melissa, TX)
Next up, the Cardinals play the Denison Yellow Jackets (Denison, TX) in a 5A Region II District 13 challenge, on Tuesday, January 31. Melissa will attempt to upgrade on its 16-13 season record. The Yellow Jackets come into the challenge with a 8-17 record after their 85-35 league loss to Lovejoy (Lucas, TX).
