January 27, 2023: Hays, NC 28635 Fans at Friday's league challenge between the West Wilkes Blackhawks (Millers Creek, NC) and the host North Wilkes Vikings (Hays, NC), saw West Wilkes's basketball squad hold off North Wilkes by a tally of 72-68.
With the victory, West Wilkes improves its record to 9-11 on the campaign. The Blackhawks host North Surry (Mount Airy, NC) to play the Greyhounds in a 2A Conference 37 challenge on Tuesday, January 31. The Greyhounds come into the challenge with a record of 19-1. North Surry won 100-65 in their recent league challenge against Forbush (East Bend, NC)
Next up, the Vikings play the Wilkes Central Eagles (Wilkesboro, NC) in a 2A Conference 37 challenge, on Tuesday, January 31. North Wilkes will attempt to improve on its 7-12 season record. The Eagles come into the challenge with a 8-11 record after their 60-45 league loss to East Surry (Pilot Mountain, NC).
