Virginia High School Basketball - Staunton River can't hold off William Byrd
January 27, 2023: Vinton, VA 24179 The William Byrd Terriers basketball team scored 66 points and held the visiting Staunton River Golden Eagles to 62 in the Terriers non-league triumph on Friday.
The Terriers now sport a 12-4 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Franklin County for a non-league contest on Tuesday, January 31. William Byrd will battle a Eagles team coming off a 52-50 non-league loss to Fleming (Roanoke, VA). The Eagles record now stands at 5-12.
The Golden Eagles (2-13) will now prepare for their contest against Northside (Roanoke, VA). The Vikings enter the non-league contest with a 16-1 record. In their last contest, Northside nudged Lord Botetourt (Daleville, VA), 52-49, in a non-league contest.
