The Merrillville Pirates (Merrillville, IN) basketball knocked off the visiting Lowell Red Devils (Lowell, IN), 66-50 in Saturday's non-league test.

The Pirates (10-6) will now prepare for their test against Lake Central (St. John, IN). The Indians go into the Duneland test with a 14-2 record. In their last test, Lake Central went down by Chesterton (Chesterton, IN), 55-51, in a league test.

The Red Devils now own a 3-14 record. They play next when they travel to Andrean for a Northwest Crossroads test on Thursday, February 1. Lowell will encounter a Fighting 59ers squad coming off a 78-46 non-league win over Marquette Catholic (Michigan City, IN). The Fighting 59ers record now stands at 9-7.
