In Monday's non-league contest, the visiting Phoenix Spartans basketball team scored a big 60-29 triumph over the Newman Greenies.

The Spartans (15-12) will now prepare for their contest against First Baptist Christian (Slidell, LA). The Eagles go into the C District 8 contest with a 3-3 record. In their last contest, First Baptist Christian was trounced by Kenner Discovery Health Sciences Academy (Kenner, LA), 43-22, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Greenies battle the Academy of the Sacred Heart Cardinals (New Orleans, LA) in a non-league contest, on Friday, January 31. Newman will attempt to better on its 11-12 season record. The Cardinals go into the contest with a 12-5 record after their 32-25 league win over Wright (New Orleans, LA).
