New York High School Basketball - Newfield can't hold off Ward Melville

January 28, 2022: Selden, NY 11784

The Ward Melville Patriots basketball team scored 42 points and restricted the host Newfield Wolverines to 35 in the Patriots league victory on Friday.

The Patriots now sport a 15-2 record. They put it on the line next when they host Northport for a Section 11 AA-2 match on Tuesday, February 1. Ward Melville will meet a Tigers team coming off a 67-62 league win over Bay Shore (Bay Shore, NY). The Tigers record now stands at 13-0.

With the defeat, Newfield moves to 9-8 on the year. The Wolverines travel to Connetquot (Bohemia, NY) to meet the T-Birds in a Section 11 AA-2 match on Tuesday, February 1. The T-Birds enter the match with a record of 3-13. Connetquot lost 78-54 in their recent league match against Commack (Commack, NY)
