Pine Raiders (Franklinton, LA) backers were pleased Friday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Varnado Wildcats (Angie, LA), 57-55 in a league bout.

With the victory, Pine upgrades its record to 6-8 on the campaign. The Raiders travel to Denham Springs (Denham Springs, LA) to play the Yellowjackets in a non-league bout on Monday, January 31. The Yellowjackets come into the bout with a record of 16-8. Denham Springs won 60-31 in their recent non-league bout against Albany (Albany, LA)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Amite Warriors (Amite, LA) in a 2A District 9 bout, on Tuesday, February 1. Varnado will attempt to upgrade on its 7-13 season record. The Warriors come into the bout with a 17-5 record after their 83-75 league win over St. Helena College and Career Academy (Greensburg, LA).
