Iowa High School Basketball - Newton holds off Nevada
January 29, 2024: Newton, IA 50208 Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Newton Cardinals (Newton, IA) and the visiting Nevada Cubs (Nevada, IA), saw Newton's basketball squad hold off Nevada by a tally of 38-31.
With the victory, Newton improves its record to 3-11 on the campaign. The Cardinals host Pella Christian (Pella, IA) to confront the Eagles in a Little Hawkeye challenge on Tuesday, January 30. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 6-10. Pella Christian won 63-37 in their recent non-league challenge against Grand View Christian (Des Moines, IA)
Next up, the Cubs confront the South Hamilton Hawks (Jewell, IA) in a Heart of Iowa challenge, on Tuesday, January 30. Nevada will attempt to improve on its 9-9 season record. The Hawks come into the challenge with a 11-6 record after their 58-36 league win over Saydel (Des Moines, IA).
