The Golden Valley Cougars (Merced, CA) basketball nipped the visiting Merced Bears (Merced, CA), 55-54 in Wednesday's league test.

The Cougars (12-5) will now prepare for their test against Buhach Colony (Atwater, CA). The Thunder go into the Central California Conference test with a 8-8 record. In their last test, Buhach Colony was tipped by Atwater (Atwater, CA), 69-48, in a league test.

The Bears now own a 8-9 record. They play next when they host El Capitan for a Central California Conference test on Friday, January 5. Merced will meet a Gauchos team coming off a 78-36 non-league loss to Rocklin (Rocklin, CA). The Gauchos record now stands at 8-7.
