The crowd at Friday's league challenge between the Shepherd Pirates (Shepherd, TX) and the visiting Liberty Panthers (Liberty, TX), observed Shepherd's basketball team overwhelm Liberty by a score of 66-41.

The Pirates (16-10) will now prepare for their challenge against Hargrave (Huffman, TX). The Falcons come into the 4A Region III District 19 challenge with a 19-2 record. In their last challenge, Hargrave trounced Hardin-Jefferson (Sour Lake, TX), 87-69, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Panthers encounter the Tarkington Longhorns (Cleveland, TX) in a 4A Region III District 19 challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Liberty will attempt to improve on its 10-14 season record. The Longhorns come into the challenge with a 19-5 record after their 47-45 league loss to Hamshire-Fannett (Hamshire, TX).
