In Friday's league contest, the host Athens Wildcats basketball team scored a good 50-40 triumph over the Towanda Black Knights.

The Wildcats (5-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Liberty (Liberty, PA). The Mounties come into the non-league challenge with a 0-1 record.

In their next game, the Black Knights encounter the Wellsboro Hornets (Wellsboro, PA) in a Northern Tier - Large challenge, on Monday, January 6.
