Virginia High School Basketball - Giles nips Craig County
January 30, 2023: Pearisburg, VA 24134 Fans at Monday's non-league challenge between the Giles Spartans (Pearisburg, VA) and the visiting Craig County Rockets (New Castle, VA), saw Giles's basketball squad hold off Craig County by a count of 53-49.
With the victory, Giles upgrades its record to 1-17 on the campaign. The Spartans travel to Auburn (Riner, VA) to play the Eagles in a Mountain Empire challenge on Tuesday, January 31. The Eagles come into the challenge with a record of 9-11. Auburn lost 49-45 in their recent league challenge against Fort Chiswell (Max Meadows, VA)
Next up, the Rockets play the Narrows Green Waves (Narrows, VA) in a Pioneer challenge, on Friday, February 3. Craig County will attempt to upgrade on its 1-13 season record. The Green Waves come into the challenge with a 9-10 record after their 56-33 non-league win over Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA).
