Mississippi High School Basketball - Coahoma County tops Independence
January 30, 2024: Independence, MS 38618 Fans at Tuesday's league challenge between the Coahoma County Red Panthers (Clarksdale, MS) and the host Independence Wildcats (Independence, MS), saw Coahoma County's basketball squad knock off Independence by a count of 61-42.
With the victory, Coahoma County upgrades its record to 22-5 on the campaign. The Red Panthers travel to Holly Springs (Holly Springs, MS) to play the Hawks in a 3A Region 2 challenge on Friday, February 2. The Hawks come into the challenge with a record of 8-17. Holly Springs won 56-50 in their recent league challenge against Rosa Fort (Tunica, MS)
Next up, the Wildcats play the North Panola Cougars (Sardis, MS) in a 3A Region 2 challenge, on Friday, February 2. Independence will attempt to upgrade on its 10-11 season record. The Cougars come into the challenge with a 11-7 record after their 62-53 league loss to Rosa Fort (Tunica, MS).
