Newman Greenies (New Orleans, LA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the visiting Liberty Magnet Patriots (Baton Rouge, LA), 53-51 in a non-league bout.

With the victory, Newman upgrades its record to 12-10 on the campaign. The Greenies host Terrebonne (Houma, LA) to play the Tigers in a non-league bout on Thursday, February 1. The Tigers come into the bout with a record of 17-12. Terrebonne won 56-53 in their recent league bout against Central Lafourche (Raceland, LA)

Next up, the Patriots play the Catholic-B.R. Bears (Baton Rouge, LA) in a 5A District 4 bout, on Friday, February 2. Liberty Magnet will attempt to upgrade on its 23-4 season record. The Bears come into the bout with a 12-12 record after their 61-51 non-league win over East Ascension (Gonzales, LA).
