Louisiana High School Basketball - Highland Baptist Christian nips Vermilion Catholic
January 30, 2024: Abbeville, LA 70510 Highland Baptist Christian Bears (New Iberia, LA) backers were pleased Tuesday as they saw their basketball squad hold off the host Vermilion Catholic Eagles (Abbeville, LA), 52-48 in a league bout.
With the victory, Highland Baptist Christian upgrades its record to 13-9 on the campaign. The Bears host Covenant Christian Academy (Houma, LA) to play the Lions in a 1A District 7 bout on Tuesday, February 6. The Lions come into the bout with a record of 17-8. Covenant Christian Academy won 55-36 in their recent league bout against Vermilion Catholic (Abbeville, LA)
Next up, the Eagles play the Centerville Bulldogs (Centerville, LA) in a 1A District 7 bout, on Wednesday, January 31. Vermilion Catholic will attempt to upgrade on its 10-10 season record. The Bulldogs come into the bout with a 1-17 record after their 53-31 league loss to Jeanerette (Jeanerette, LA).
