Maine High School Basketball - Stearns can't hold off Piscataquis
January 30, 2025: Millinocket, ME 04462 Piscataquis Pirates (Guilford, ME) boosters left the game satisfied Thursday as they witnessed their basketball squad nudge the host Stearns Minutemen (Millinocket, ME), 57-54 in a non-league match.
With the victory, Piscataquis upgrades its record to 5-9 on the year. The Pirates host George Stevens Academy (Blue Hill, ME) to face the Eagles in a C North match on Friday, January 31. The Eagles enter the match with a record of 9-5. George Stevens Academy won 77-10 in their recent non-league match against Deer Isle-Stonington (Deer Isle, ME)
The Minutemen now sport a 5-11 record. They put it on the line next when they host Penquis Valley for a non-league match on Monday, February 3. Stearns will face a Patriots squad coming off a 55-42 league win over Central (East Corinth, ME). The Patriots record now stands at 7-11.
