California High School Basketball - Golden Valley holds off El Capitan
January 31, 2024: Merced, CA 95341 Fans at Wednesday's league challenge between the Golden Valley Cougars (Merced, CA) and the visiting El Capitan Gauchos (Merced, CA), saw Golden Valley's basketball squad hold off El Capitan by a tally of 63-57.
With the victory, Golden Valley improves its record to 12-8 on the campaign. The Cougars travel to Central Valley (Ceres, CA) to confront the Hawks in a challenge on Wednesday, February 7. The Hawks come into the challenge with a record of 3-8. Central Valley lost 44-27 in their recent league challenge against Atwater (Atwater, CA)
Next up, the Gauchos confront the Patterson Tigers (Patterson, CA) in a challenge, on Friday, February 2. El Capitan will attempt to improve on its 1-6 season record. The Tigers come into the challenge with a 6-20 record after their 65-28 league loss to Merced (Merced, CA).
