Wisconsin High School Basketball - Newman knocked off by Phillips
January 4, 2024: Wausau, WI 54401 The Phillips Loggers basketball team scored 65 points and held the host Newman Fighting Cardinals to 49 in the Loggers non-league triumph on Thursday.
The Loggers now sport a 6-2 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Owen-Withee for a non-league contest on Monday, January 8. Phillips will battle a Blackhawks team coming off a 62-46 league loss to Neillsville (Neillsville, WI). The Blackhawks record now stands at 5-6.
The Fighting Cardinals (1-9) will now prepare for their contest against Edgar (Edgar, WI). The Wildcats enter the Marawood - South contest with a 8-2 record. In their last contest, Edgar ran past Athens (Athens, WI), 59-40, in a non-league contest.
