January 4, 2025: Cooks, MI 49817 The crowd at Saturday's league challenge between the Big Bay de Noc Black Bears (Cooks, MI) and the visiting Mackinac Island Lakers (Mackinac Island, MI), observed Big Bay de Noc's basketball team overwhelm Mackinac Island by a margin of 89-37.
The Black Bears (7-1) will now prepare for their challenge against North Central (Powers, MI). The Jets come into the non-league challenge with a 0-5 record. In their last challenge, North Central was trounced by North Dickinson (Felch, MI), 62-21, in a non-league challenge.
In their next game, the Lakers battle the Maplewood Baptist Academy Black Bears (Kinross, MI) in a Northern Lights challenge, on Tuesday, January 7. Mackinac Island will attempt to better on its 8-3 season record. The Black Bears come into the challenge with a 2-3 record after their 29-19 non-league win over Mackinaw City (Mackinaw City, MI).
