January 5, 2024: Philadelphia, MS 39350

Fans at Friday's league challenge between the Choctaw Central Warriors (Philadelphia, MS) and the visiting Newton County Cougars (Decatur, MS), saw Choctaw Central's basketball squad wallop Newton County by a tally of 55-20.

With the victory, Choctaw Central improves its record to 13-2 on the campaign. The Warriors travel to Belmont (Belmont, MS) to play the Cardinals in a non-league challenge on Saturday, January 6. The Cardinals come into the challenge with a record of 14-2. Belmont won 65-38 in their recent league challenge against Mantachie (Mantachie, MS)

Next up, the Cougars play the West Lauderdale Knights (Collinsville, MS) in a 4A Region 4 challenge, on Tuesday, January 9. Newton County will attempt to improve on its 8-8 season record. The Knights come into the challenge with a 4-12 record after their 59-37 league loss to Leake Central (Carthage, MS).
