Capital Cougars (Olympia, WA) backers were in high spirits Friday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host River Ridge Hawks (Lacey, WA), 49-36 in a league bout.

With the win, Capital upgrades its record to 1-4 on the season. The Cougars host WF West (Chehalis, WA) to play the Bearcats in a non-league bout on Saturday, January 7. The Bearcats go into the bout with a record of 9-2. WF West won 64-29 in their recent league bout against Centralia (Centralia, WA)

Next up, the Hawks play the Yelm Tornados (Yelm, WA) in a 3A South Sound bout, on Wednesday, January 11. River Ridge will attempt to upgrade on its 0-8 season record. The Tornados go into the bout with a 0-4 record after their 45-26 league loss to Central Kitsap (Silverdale, WA).
