The Valley Christian Defenders (Cerritos, CA) basketball nipped the host Maranatha Minutemen (Pasadena, CA), 41-40 in Friday's league test.

The Defenders (6-12) will now prepare for their test against Saint Joseph (Lakewood, CA). The Jesters go into the non-league test with a 10-4 record. In their last test, Saint Joseph got by St. Pius X-St. Matthias Academy (Downey, CA), 54-36, in a league test.
