In Monday's league contest, the host Mabel-Canton Cougars basketball team scored a close 67-62 triumph over the Schaeffer Academy Lions.

The Cougars (4-5) will now prepare for their contest against LeRoy-Ostrander (LeRoy, MN). The Cardinals go into the A Section 1 contest with a 2-7 record. In their last contest, LeRoy-Ostrander was tipped by Kenyon-Wanamingo (Kenyon, MN), 71-68, in a non-league contest.

In their next game, the Lions confront the Southland Rebels (Adams, MN) in a A Section 1 contest, on Tuesday, January 7. Schaeffer Academy will attempt to better on its 5-3 season record. The Rebels go into the contest with a 11-0 record after their 70-40 league win over Lanesboro (Lanesboro, MN).
