Newton Local Indians (Pleasant Hill, OH) backers were in high spirits Saturday as they witnessed their basketball squad thwart the host Houston Wildcats (Houston, OH), 54-44 in a non-league bout.

With the win, Newton Local upgrades its record to 5-5 on the season. The Indians travel to Franklin Monroe (Pitsburg, OH) to play the Jets in a Western Ohio bout on Tuesday, January 10. The Jets go into the bout with a record of 4-6. Franklin Monroe won 55-46 in their recent league bout against Tri-County North (Lewisburg, OH)

Next up, the Wildcats play the Russia Raiders (Russia, OH) in a Shelby County bout, on Friday, January 20. Houston will attempt to upgrade on its 2-8 season record.
