Florida High School Basketball - Tradition Prep holds off Okeechobee
January 7, 2025: Port St. Lucie, FL 34987 The Tradition Prep Pirates basketball team scored 61 points and limited the visiting Okeechobee Brahmans to 60 in the Pirates non-league triumph on Tuesday.
The Pirates now possess a 9-5 record. They play next when they host Westwood for a non-league game on Wednesday, January 8. Tradition Prep will confront a Panthers team coming off a 61-45 non-league win over John Carroll Catholic (Fort Pierce, FL). The Panthers record now stands at 8-5.
With the loss, Okeechobee falls to 8-5 on the campaign. The Brahmans travel to Heritage (Palm Bay, FL) to confront the Panthers in a non-league game on Thursday, January 9. The Panthers go into the game with a record of 2-10. Heritage lost 54-46 in their recent non-league game against Eau Gallie (Melbourne, FL)
Game Summary
Tradition Prep built a 10 point lead, but Okeechobee came back to take a one point lead 60-59 on a Wyatt Phillips steal and break away with 17 seconds left. Ethan Chevres missed a 3 point shot with 8 seconds left and Jayden Harris tipped it in to regain the lead. Channing Delagall pushed the ball to the goal and delivered the ball to Chaynaya Phillips who missed a contested layup at the buzzer. It was a tremendous game. Chaynaya' Phillips led the way for Okeechobee with 20 points.
