Georgia High School Basketball - Tiftarea Academy nips Southland Academy
January 7, 2025: Chula, GA 31733 The crowd at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the Tiftarea Academy Panthers (Chula, GA) and the visiting Southland Academy Raiders (Americus, GA), observed Tiftarea Academy's basketball team edge Southland Academy by a score of 55-49.
The Panthers (8-1) will now prepare for their challenge against Brookwood (Thomasville, GA). The Warriors come into the GIAA AAAA/AAA District 3 challenge with a 14-1 record. In their last challenge, Brookwood edged Valwood (Valdosta, GA), 60-37, in a league challenge.
In their next game, the Raiders play the Sherwood Christian Academy Eagles (Albany, GA) in a GIAA AA Region 3 bout, on Friday, January 10. Southland Academy will attempt to move on its 9-6 season record. The Eagles go into the bout with a 3-6 record after their 54-43 non-league loss to Bainbridge (Bainbridge, GA).
