La Joya Community Fighting Lobos (Avondale, AZ) supporters left the game happy Wednesday as they witnessed their basketball squad hold off the host Alhambra Lions (Phoenix, AZ), 42-39 in a non-league match.

With the victory, La Joya Community advances its record to 3-5 on the year. The Fighting Lobos host Glendale (Glendale, AZ) to meet the Cardinals in a 5A Central Valley match on Thursday, January 9. The Cardinals enter the match with a record of 4-2. Glendale won 50-40 in their recent non-league match against Cortez (Phoenix, AZ)

The Lions now own a 3-10 record. They put it on the line next when they host Carl Hayden Community for a 5A Metro match on Thursday, January 9. Alhambra will meet a Falcons squad coming off a 49-25 non-league loss to Washington (Phoenix, AZ). The Falcons record now stands at 3-7.
