Virginia High School Basketball - George Wythe tops Auburn
January 9, 2024: Riner, VA 24149 Fans at Tuesday's non-league challenge between the George Wythe Maroons (Wytheville, VA) and the host Auburn Eagles (Riner, VA), saw George Wythe's basketball squad knock off Auburn by a count of 30-21.
With the victory, George Wythe upgrades its record to 6-1 on the campaign. The Maroons travel to Bland County (Rocky Gap, VA) to play the Bears in a non-league challenge on Thursday, January 11. The Bears come into the challenge with a record of 1-3. Bland County lost 23-21 in their recent non-league challenge against Rural Retreat (Rural Retreat, VA)
Next up, the Eagles play the Galax Maroon Tide (Galax, VA) in a non-league challenge, on Friday, January 12. Auburn will attempt to upgrade on its 0-6 season record. The Maroon Tide come into the challenge with a 5-2 record after their 29-26 non-league win over Grayson County (Independence, VA).
