In Thursday's league contest, the visiting Payson Longhorns basketball team scored a close 58-53 triumph over the Bourgade Catholic Golden Eagles.

The Longhorns (6-9) will now prepare for their contest against Alchesay (Whiteriver, AZ). The Falcons go into the non-league contest with a 15-6 record. In their last contest, Alchesay nipped Blue Ridge (Lakeside, AZ), 69-45, in a league contest.

In their next game, the Golden Eagles battle the Northwest Christian Crusaders (Phoenix, AZ) in a 3A Metro contest, on Tuesday, January 14. Bourgade Catholic will attempt to better on its 4-13 season record. The Crusaders go into the contest with a 4-8 record after their 58-38 league loss to Gilbert Christian (Gilbert, AZ).
