The Independence Patriots walloped the host Garinger Wildcats football team by a score of 68-7 in Friday's league challenge.

In their next game, the Patriots face the Providence Panthers (Charlotte, NC) in a Southwestern 4A challenge, on Thursday, October 10. Independence will attempt to improve on its 5-1 season record. The Panthers enter the challenge with a 1-4 record after their 18-6 non-league loss to Mooresville (Mooresville, NC).

The Wildcats (0-6) will now prepare for their challenge against Charlotte Catholic (Charlotte, NC). The Cougars enter the Southwestern 4A challenge with a 4-2 record. In their last challenge, Charlotte Catholic bounced Rocky River (Mint Hill, NC), 28-6, in a league challenge.
