The scoring opened early with a beautiful corner kick to header combination with the goal scored by Luka Harmer (his 9th of the season) only 5 minutes into the first half. The boys continued with the positive momentum throughout the first half which led to a second goal at the 25-minute mark by senior captain Jakob Harmer off of a great read and cross by senior forward Eric McCrimmon to make the score 2-0. Slippery Rock answered with a goal of their own 7 minutes later to draw within one going into halftime. A goal just 2 minutes into the second half by Jakob Harmer (his second of the game and 11th on the season) off of a pass from his brother Luka Harmer made the score 3-1. The Hornets weathered the attack of the Rockets who scored midway through the second half to make the score 3-2. With 10:47 remaining in the game, goaltender Brody Gordon made a spectacular penalty kick save to preserve the victory for the Hornets.
