West Virginia High School Soccer - James Monroe nudges Mingo Central
October 9, 2024: Matewan, WV 25670 Fans at Wednesday's league battle between the James Monroe Mavericks (Lindside, WV) and the host Mingo Central Miners (Matewan, WV), saw James Monroe's soccer squad hold off Mingo Central by a count of 2-1.
The Mavericks (4-6) will now prepare for their battle against PikeView (Princeton, WV). The Panthers enter the Coalfield AA battle with a 13-4 record. In their last battle, PikeView tipped Midland Trail (Hico, WV), 10-0, in a league battle.
Next up, the Miners confront the Tug Valley Panthers (Williamson, WV) in a non-league battle, on Saturday, October 12. Mingo Central will attempt to upgrade on its 3-8 season record. The Panthers enter the battle with a 5-2 record after their 1-1 non-league Logan (Logan, WV).
