The Gretna Hawks (Gretna, VA) football trounced the visiting Nelson County Governors (Lovingston, VA), 42-7 in Friday's league outing.

The Hawks now sport a 5-1 record. They take the field next when they travel to Dan River for a Dogwood outing on Friday, October 17. Gretna will clash with a Wildcats squad coming off a 42-16 league win over William Campbell (Naruna, VA). The Wildcats record now stands at 3-4.

With the defeat, Nelson County drops to 4-2 on the campaign. The Governors travel to Patrick County (Stuart, VA) to clash with the Cougars in a non-league outing on Friday, October 17. The Cougars come into the outing with a record of 2-5. Patrick County lost 16-7 in their recent league outing against Radford (Radford, VA)
