The Hazleton Area Cougars football squad (Hazleton, PA), was routed 49-13 in Friday's league contest with the host Pittston Patriots (Pittston, PA)

The Patriots (7-1) will now prepare for their contest against Wallenpaupack Area (Hawley, PA). The Buckhorns go into the non-league battle with a 3-5 record. In their last battle, Wallenpaupack Area was crushed by Abington Heights (Clarks Summit, PA), 31-14, in a league battle.

The Cougars now own a 1-7 record. They play next when they host Dallas for a Wyoming Valley 1 battle on Friday, October 17. Hazleton Area will confront a Mountaineers squad coming off a 7-0 league win over Crestwood (Mountain Top, PA). The Mountaineers record now stands at 3-5.
