The crowd at Friday's league contest between the Flour Bluff Hornets (Corpus Christi, TX) and the visiting Mercedes Tigers (Mercedes, TX), observed Flour Bluff's football squad bounce Mercedes by a count of 55-14.

The Hornets now own a 4-2 record. They play next when they travel to Valley View for a 5A-2 Region IV District 15 contest on Friday, October 20. Flour Bluff will encounter a Tigers squad coming off a 21-0 league win over Porter (Brownsville, TX). The Tigers record now stands at 2-5.

Coming up next, the Tigers encounter the Gregory-Portland Wildcats (Portland, TX) in a 5A-2 Region IV District 15 contest, on Friday, October 20. Mercedes will attempt to upgrade on its 2-5 season record. The Wildcats go into the contest with a 6-1 record after their 43-13 league win over Edcouch-Elsa (Edcouch, TX).
