Georgia High School Flag Football - Irwin County thwarted by Fitzgerald
October 13, 2025: Fitzgerald, GA 31750 Fitzgerald Purple Hurricane (Fitzgerald, GA) fans went home in high spirits Monday as they saw their flag football team achieve victory over the visiting Irwin County Indians (Ocilla, GA), 26-0 in a non-league battle.
With the win, Fitzgerald improves its record to 5-0 on the season. The Purple Hurricane host Montgomery County (Mt. Vernon, GA) to play the Eagles in a D1 Area 3 battle on Tuesday, October 14. The Eagles go into the battle with a record of 0-2. Montgomery County lost 47-0 in their recent league battle against Dodge County (Eastman, GA)
The Indians now have a 1-5 record. They play next when they travel to Thomasville for a D4 Area 1 battle on Tuesday, October 21. Irwin County will play a Bulldogs team coming off a 59-0 league loss to Thomas County Central (Thomasville, GA). The Bulldogs record now stands at 2-2.
