Huntingtown Hurricanes (Huntingtown, MD) backers were pleased Monday as they witnessed their volleyball team overcome the host Great Mills Hornets (Great Mills, MD), 3-1 in a non-league challenge.

The Hurricanes (8-2) will now prepare for their challenge against Thomas Stone (Waldorf, MD). The Cougars come into the Southern Maryland challenge with a 3-7 record. In their last challenge, Thomas Stone was beaten by McDonough (Pomfret, MD), 3-0, in a league challenge.

In their next game, the Hornets face the Calvert Cavaliers (Prince Frederick, MD) in a non-league test, on Wednesday, October 15. Great Mills will attempt to advance on its 7-4 season record. The Cavaliers go into the test with a 10-1 record after their 3-0 league win over Lackey (Indian Head, MD).
