Missouri High School Volleyball - Rock Bridge over Helias
October 14, 2023: Columbia, MO 65203 Rock Bridge Bruins (Columbia, MO) supporters left the game in high spirits Saturday as they observed their volleyball squad top the visiting Helias Crusaders (Jefferson City, MO), 2-0 in a non-league match.
Next up, the Bruins clash with the Hickman Kewpies (Columbia, MO) in a match, on Monday, October 16. Rock Bridge will attempt to advance on its 18-3 season record. The Kewpies come into the match with a 1-2 record after their 2-0 non-league loss to Rock Bridge (Columbia, MO).
With the loss, Helias drops to 22-9 on the campaign.
Match Summary
In the Championship match Helias would meet the Lady Bridge Lady Bruin for the 3rd time this season. Losing the previous matches with leads with both going 3 Sets. It was set up for a storybook ending where Helias would finally take out the Bruins in the Championship of a Tourney, but it was not to be. The Lady Sader's would not push the match to 3 sets but fall in two 17-25, 20-25. Helias would only score 16 points off serve with 3 Aces, totaled 13 Kills, 34 Digs, 2 Blocks and 31 Receptions. Helias had 3 missed serves, had 32 Non serving errors, (was Aced 12 times) To many errors and the play of Rock Bridge would see Helias fall in the title match. Helias finishes 2nd in the Waynesville Freshmen Volleyball Tourney going 4-1 matches and 8 -2 Sets for the Tournament.
