Westwood Panthers (Palestine, TX) followers went home pleased Friday as they saw their football team nip the visiting Diboll Lumberjacks (Diboll, TX), 38-35 in a league match.

The Panthers (7-0) will now prepare for their match against Teague (Teague, TX). The Lions come into the 3A-1 Region III District 9 match with a 3-4 record. In their last match, Teague was nudged by Crockett (Crockett, TX), 33-12, in a league match.

Coming up next, the Lumberjacks confront the Fairfield Eagles (Fairfield, TX) in a 3A-1 Region III District 9 match, on Friday, October 24. Diboll will attempt to upgrade on its 2-5 season record. The Eagles go into the battle with a 7-0 record after their 52-0 league win over Huntington (Huntington, TX).
