Illinois High School Volleyball - Marian Central Catholic Woodstock North
October 20, 2021: Woodstock, IL 60098 The Woodstock North Thunder topped the visiting Marian Central Catholic Hurricanes volleyball team by a score of 2-0 in Wednesday's non-league test.
The Thunder now have a 25-7 record. They put it on the line next when they travel to Woodstock for a Kishwaukee River test on Thursday, October 21. Woodstock North will confront a Blue Streaks team coming off a 2-1 non-league win over Mundelein (Mundelein, IL). The Blue Streaks record now stands at 14-12.
The Hurricanes (8-22) will now prepare for their test against Richmond-Burton (Richmond, IL). The Rockets enter the non-league test with a 15-18 record. In their last test, Richmond-Burton was knocked off by Johnsburg (Johnsburg, IL), 2-0, in a league test.
Match Summary
On an emotional night, when Thunder Nation celebrated 9 amazing seniors, Woodstock North pulled off a 25-19, 25-23 win over Marian Central to move to 25-7 on the season.
Madison Miller had an incredible match at libero with 14 digs and 2 assists. Seniors Alyssa Wickersheim (10 kills, 2 aces, 3 digs) and Faith Eddy (8 kills, 1 ace. 1 dig) lead the way offensively. Kamryn Butenschoen (2 kills, 1 block), Avery Crabill (2 kills, 3 aces, 2 digs) and Cadence Klasek (1 kills) chipped in at the net. Kylie Schulze (19 assists, 6 digs, 2 kills, 1 block). Stephanie Accardo and Mary Kobler started the match for the Thunder to round out contributions from the senior class!
The Thunder return to action tomorrow in their final match of the regular season at crosstown rival Woodstock as they prepare for the IHSA State tournament next week at Rockford Boylan.
