The New Kent Lady Trojans swept the Tigers of Tabb High School 25-13, 25-14, 25-21 to put an extra win on their Class 3, Region A rivals. New Kent had won the earlier meeting at NK in four sets, one of only two four-set matches NK has played this season. The Tigers are known to be tough at home with a loud and supportive crowd, but the Lady Trojans took the lead on a Julia Hathaway spike on their first reception and never looked back, doubling Tabb's score at 10-5 and winning 25-13. The second set was the same with NK taking the lead on the first rally and doubling Tabb's score at 8, 10, 16, & 22 before winning 25-14. In the third set, the Tigers took the early lead, opening up a 0-3 advantage before NK tied the set at 5-5. After that NK took the lead and never relinquished it, though the Tigers fought hard managing a much closer 25-21 score. It's expected that the teams will meet again during the Region A tournament in the semifinals or finals.
